We generally separate short words with a space and long words with a hyphen. Sometimes when editing a Word document, you don’t want text to break at the end of a line, especially a proper name, a phone number or a URL. A nonbreaking hyphen comes in handy here. But how can we insert it in Word? The method is easy to follow:
1. Go to Insert tab, click Symbols button.
2. Click More Symbols in the drop-down list.
3. The Symbol dialog box will display, go to Special Characters tab and select Nonbreaking Hyphen. Click Insert at the bottom. Note: you could use the shortcuts [Ctrl+Shift+] alternatively.
