Powerful Excel functions can always save us much time, in our today’s tutorial, we are going to learn a new Excel function—the CHOOSE function.
The Excel CHOOSE function returns a value from a list using a given position or index.
Syntax:
Choose (index_num, value1, [value2], …)
index_num: The value to choose. A number between 1 and 254.
value1: The first value from which to choose.
Value2 (optional) The second value from which to choose.
Let’s take an example to know how to use the CHOOSE function well.
Here is a list of names. Suppose we enter the CHOOSE function in cell B2 like below.
Do you know which name we will get in cell B2? Yes, that’s Patton. Because Patton is the second one of Jim, Patton, Anthony, Venus, Gary, and Peter.
So, that’s easy to understand how the CHOOSE function works.
