How To Use The LARGE Function In Excel?

We have learned a lot of usages of different functions in our previous tutorials. Today, we are going to learn the LARGE function. So, what does the LARGE function mean? and how to use it?

What’s the Large function?

The LARGE function can help you to get the kth largest value of a set of data.

Syntax

=LARGE (array,k)

Let’s take a simple example to explain how to use it. Here is a set of math results. How to quickly know the score of sixth?

Just enter  [=LARGE($B$2:$B$13, D2)] in cell E2, and press Enter key.

In this way, you can quickly find out what the sixth-ranked score is.

In the same way, you can also know the score of any ranking. However, the default ranking of this function is from largest to smallest.

Why there shows #NUM!?

If the provided parameter k is less than 1, or greater than the number of arrays, or the parameter k is null or 0, the result will display #NUM!

Why there shows #VALUE!

This shows that the parameter k you provided is not a numeric type.

Congratulations, you picked up another Excel trick now.
